PRACTICING THE SONGS

Thank you for helping our KIDZ and Yth deliver a fantastic live Christmas program on Christmas Eve, as our special service and community outreach. In addition to the lyric sheets that went home from each Sunday, we have practiced these songs some in KIDZchurch since the end of November.

Please have your cast members get familiar with the lyrics and the melody of the songs listed below... they are fun Christmas songs, that you can use to reinforce the importance of the season, and the reason we are celebrating!

PRESCHOOLERS specifically need to learn "Away In A Manger".... the others are bonus

Use the <| and |> arrows on the video to skip between songs

IMPORTANT - For the lyrics to show on screen, turn on the CC (subtitles)

Dress rehearsal - DEC 21

We only have ONE dress rehearsal on Sunday, Dec 21 after service.  We will be providing pizza to all the cast members (and their parents) in the café shortly after the end of the service - once the regular Sunday attendees have left.

After a quick lunch, we will meet in the auditorium on the front rows, to run through the specific scenes, the cues, the movements and transitions for each group or character - WITHOUT being in full costume. We may need to rehearse trouble areas a time or two.

Then we will have parents collect their child's costume, help their cast members into their costumes and assemble on the front rows of the auditorium to meet with their group leader, and move to the "holding rooms" where the cast members will wait for their time to emerge.

We will do a full dress rehearsal, not stopping at all, and then we will review any areas that need to be addressed. Then we will do one more full dress rehearsal

Once the dress rehearsal is over, parents will hang up their cast members costumes on their assigned (with a name) hanger, return it neatly to the rack, ready for Wednesday's performance.  Parents are responsible for keeping all the pieces together.

PRODUCTION - DEC 24

On Wednesday, Dec 24, we suggest planning to eat before you come - so no one is "starving" or messing food on their costumes.  (We will have some snacks available AFTER the performance in addition to the cookies and hot chocolate)  Please have your child come already dressed in their "underlayers" as outlined by Hannah (white shoes, light colored sandals, or bare feet)

We need all cast members here by 4:30pm exactly.  Meet in the the auditorium for role call and prayer. Then each group will go to their staging rooms, and parents will help their own children get dress, and return to the  staging area.

Parents that are not helping specifically with the various groups of children are invited to get seats in the auditorium before the door officially open at 5:30pm. Please do not reserve more than one row for guests you have invited.

After the message and dismissal, parents, please meet your child back in the staging room, to help them undress, hang up their costume, and THEN grab one of those snacks.

We plan on filming the production, and the stage will be well lit, so we will ask the audience to refrain from using flash photography.  Please keep the aisles clear. If desired, you can take photos from your seat.

After the dismissal, some cast members will be available to take photos at the nativity on stage.
